Zimbabwe has been ranked number three on the world's list of best countries to visit by Tastemakers at Lonely Planet in 2019.
Lonely Planet ranks Zimbabwe at number three behind Sri Lanka and Germany as one of the best countries to visit in 2019 based on nominations of editors, researchers, locals and influences.
According Lonely Planet, despite making headlines because of its ongoing economic problems, Zimbabwe is one of the world’s safest and most ideal travel destinations.
“While Zimbabwe has always made headlines for all the wrong reasons, Zimbabwe has always been a country that travelers on the ground have raved about. Not only is it one of the safest destinations, its blessed with ultra-friendly locals, Big-Five filled national parks, World Heritage listed archaeological ruins, forested mountains and, of course the mighty Victoria Falls”.
Lonely Planet notes that although the controversial 2018 election may have dampened the unbridled optimism following the end of Robert Mugabe’s time in power, the sense of hope for what the country can become remains strong in Zimbabweans. And always, a visit here is viewed by locals as a sign of support of them on their journey to a new dawn.
