Formerly known as Nyasaland, the landlocked nation of Malawi gained independence from Britain on this day in 1964.
With the beloved Lake Malawi being the most popular tourist spot, the country also boasts beautiful wildlife/ forest reserves as well as amazing mountain ranges and escarpments.
