Jacques Torres faces a whole load of cake calamities in Nailed It!
Forget about baking triumphs, it’s all about baking calamities as the second series of Nailed It! comes to Netflix. The culinary show sees a bunch of daring hopefuls attempting to recreate some gorgeous-looking cake and dessert creations – and, more often than not, failing miserably. And as always host Nicole Byer is on hand to preside over things (complete with much cackling), alongside chef Jacques Torres. Here’s what you need to know about Jacques – and why he’s earned the nickname ‘Mr Chocolate…’
How old is Jacques Torres and what’s his job?
Jacques is 59 years old and was born on June 14, 1959, in Algerian capital Algiers, but grew up in the south of France. His early career saw him working alongside two-star Michelin chef Jacques Maximin at the Hotel Negresco in Nice, while attending culinary school to earn his Master Pastry Chef degree. He also worked as the corporate pastry chef for the Ritz Carlton, as well as being the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier Patissier de France competition. After 11 years working as Executive Pastry Chef at Le Cirque in New York, he went on to open his first chocolate shop in Brooklyn – and now has eight in total. He also opened the city’s first chocolate museum, Choco-Story New York, in 2017.
