Charlene Turner hopes her Thanksgiving meal will be a cultural bridge to Florida Intstitute of Technology students

Adedayo Omosebi has traveled the world, sampling foods from China, Thailand and throughout Europe. But as cooler weather settles in and the Florida Institute of Technology campus empties itself of students for the fall break, the 50-year-old, second-semester student will venture out to try something he's never had before; an American Thanksgiving meal.

"I was given an invitation," said the former government worker from Nigeria. "I've never attended a Thanksgiving meal before so this is my first one. I would love to taste the turkey, to see how the American cuisine is," said Omosebi, whose wife and three children remain in Nigeria while he takes on his studies.

This Thursday, Omosebi will join several other Florida Tech students from Rwanda and Saudi Arabia to take part in a Thanksgiving meal prepared by a West Melbourne resident hoping for an inclusive celebration. The homemade meal of roasted turkey, stuffing and other trimmings is in keeping with a longstanding community tradition of residents hosting Thanksgiving in private homes for some of the university's 1,587 international students.
