The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday, commenced issuance of the new 10-year validity enhanced passport booklet, which is part of a comprehensive reform, approved by the Federal Government in January.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday, commenced issuance of the new 10-year validity enhanced passport booklet, which is part of a comprehensive reform, approved by the Federal Government in January.
Comptroller-General of the Service, Mr Muhammad Babandede, said this at the ceremony held at the NIS Headquarters, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, had on Jan. 16, officially launched the new e-passport.
The 64-page 10-year standard passport costs N70, 000, while the 32-page five-year standard passport costs N25, 000. The 64-page five-year standard passport goes for N 35,000, while the 32-page five-year official passport costs N15, 000.
“The new passport has enormous advantages which include 10 year validity, self-tracking application and express centers, for urgent application.
“Other advantages include weather friendliness, compliance with latest International Civil Aviation Organization (CIAO) standard, poly-carbonate technology that reduces incidence of damage.
