(Above) Champs: Namibia scooped three bronze medals at the Africa Karate Championships.
Wikus Oberholster as Namibia’s Chief Referee, as well Gert Husselmann and Theresa Swart led the team that travelled to Botswana, while the senior officials were led by Namibia’s Karate Union President Cornelius D’Alton, Leonard Martin as Team Manager and Namibian Coach Llewellyn Manale.
At the same time, Husselman and Swart received their continental judging qualifications in UFAK Kata Judge A, UFAK Kumite Judge B and UFAK Kata Judge B.
Commenting on his team’s performance, Coach Manale said: “It was a great championship with a very high level of competitive karate. There were many outstanding performances for such a young team. We had a few setbacks and stiff competition at the event, but Team Namibia is an ever-growing team. It is time to face the challenges ahead and become a fierce force to reckon with.
