African Festival Yokohama 2018
March 23, 2018 - March 25, 2018
Less a festival and more an miniature indoor exhibition, the African Festival in Yokohama has been held annually since 2008 to bridge the cultural differences between Africa and Japan. The 2nd floor of the No.1 Building of the Red Brick Warehouse is turned into a sort of bazaar, with a small booth for each African nation. You can find arts and crafts, paintings, and specialities here. On the 3rd floor there is a workshop where you can learn the djembe or mbira for a small fee (¥500-1,000) and a main hall where traditional performances are held (free to enter). There is also a small food court. See the official website for a full event schedule. The event is held in Building No.1 from 11:00-19:00 (17:00 on Sunday). There is a reception on the 3rd floor for those wanting to book one of the workshop events.
